The Timing I Never Knew I Needed

God’s timing is perfect. He always gives us what we need when we need it. Sometimes what we receive is something we didn’t even know we needed. There’s something about remaining faithful during the wait that uplifts your heart when the promises are fulfilled. Right now, this is prevalent in my life. I have my faith, but I had yet to find my people. So for the last year, I have been praying about finding a Christian community where I can grow and thrive. Something that the pandemic had made a little tricky.

A few months ago, God put it in my heart to start looking for a church with more young people and small groups. I love the church that I was attending. It is small, but everyone is always warm and welcoming. Yet there were no people my age or any small groups to attend.

I started looking farther away from my house and found a church that piqued my interest. It looked completely different from my previous church. Some things happened, so I wasn’t able to attend right away. But after a few Sundays passed, I finally had the opportunity to go.
My anxiety was high, causing me to almost back out at the last minute, but I remembered the enemy always tries to keep us from what is good. So I drove forty-five minutes to the church. When I arrived, there were people everywhere, but there was a nice, warm, welcoming comity. The atmosphere was relaxed, and individuals from all over gathered. Even though I was nervous, I walked through the doors and found a seat. I offered the seats next to me to a young couple. It turned out that it was also the young lady’s first time at the church.

It turned out that Sunday after service, they would have lunch for people who were new to the church. Though it was something I wouldn’t normally do, I went to the lunch myself. There I was able to learn more about what the church was involved in and how the church itself works. I also met another young woman who was new to the area.

At this meeting, I heard about a few summer series that would take place in a couple of weeks. The group for women was about finding community. It was just what I needed and seemed like the perfect timing. I managed to get sick the week after this. Just a summer cold, but it was good timing because it happened the week before the group started. I went to the group, and at first, I was nervous. I almost didn’t go and wanted to leave early the first few sessions, but I realized that the more I went to the church, the more I would be comfortable going.

About forty-five to fifty people were at the first meeting, so we broke into smaller groups. My group had ten women in it. I spoke to many and got their opinions on what they believed and thought was important about the content we discussed. Everyone was welcoming, and a few wanted to talk to me afterward. It encouraged me that this was the right decision. Though it was the first session, I left feeling invigorated. It was the perfect timing.

Week after week, I kept going back. The group changed slightly with time, but a few individuals remained the same. It became something that I wanted to participate in. Over the weeks, we got to know one another and grew closer. Our group consisted of many different women, but our hearts were similar. We were all doing this because God put it on our hearts, whether we knew it or not. The last day of the group was yesterday, but we have already made plans to get together again. I can’t wait to continue to learn and grow with these women.

Even in the wait, remain faithful to God. Trust that His timing is perfect and that He has everything under control. God has the perfect plan in place for you. Though you might not know where you are headed, God knows. Don’t let the enemy dismay you from doing God’s will just because you feel uncomfortable. The outcome will far out way the uncomfortableness. If you let God work through you, amazing things will happen.

All the glory to God forever. May He fulfill the prayers of your heart.
